  • Traditional file storage system rely on centralized servers managed by third-party entities. This dependence exposes users to potential data breached, unauthorized access, and data privacy concerns, as they must trust these entities to handle their data securely.

  • Centralized storage solutions are prone to outages, cyberattacks, and data breaches, which can lead to data loss or unauthorized access. The risk of a single point of failure makes these systems unreliable, especially for users requiring high availability and data integrity.

  • Users often have little visibility into how their data is stored, accessed, or managed in centralized systems. This lack of transparency results in a reduced sense of control and trust, particularly when handling sensitive or confidential information.

Taking into account the project’s background, our mission was to handle the project transfer from another development provider, review the developed parts, and prepare detailed plans and estimations to finish the project and release the app.

  • Review the developed app parts (UX/UI + code review + QA) and provide a more specific plan and estimation of the development stage;

The GOALS

The Secure File Upload System aims to provide a decentralized, secure, and user-controlled file management solution.

  • Fill in the gap in the market by leveraging blockchain and decentralized storage to enhance security, transparency, and data integrity beyond traditional file storage methods.

THE SOLUTION

To eliminate centralized control, the system utilized IPFS, a peer-to-peer network that distributes data across multiple nodes.

The system stored file metadata, including file hashes and ownership details, on the Ethereum blockchain via a smart contract.

Files were encrypted on the client side before being uploaded to IPFS, ensuring that sensitive information remained protected during transmission and storage.

Smart contracts were implemented to manage access control logic, ensuring that only authorized users could retrieve and decrypt files.
